My Home II Program for Prince George’s County

Prince George's County has re-activated its popular My Home II Program for first time home buyers purchasing a home or condo. The program applies to homes within 14 select zip codes across Prince George's.

Sponsored by Prince George's County Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD), the My HOME II Program will provide first-time home buyers with up to $20,000 in down payment and closing costs for the purchase of their home in Prince George’s County. Home buyers must be income eligible, purchase a home one of 14 specific zip codes in the County and must pay back the zero percent interest loan when the house is sold or transferred.

How To Use It

The program is currently valid from 9/1/2016 through 12/31/2016, or until County allocated funds are exhausted. The My Home II program is just like any other mortgage, with the addition of down payment assistance outside of the primary mortgage loan on your home purchase. You have to be able to basically qualify to borrow money for a home purchase from an authorized mortgage lender. You need steady income, a fair to good credit score, and have to meet certain other conditions.

The funds are available for home purchases in 14 select Prince George's County zip codes, including: 20706 (Lanham), 20710 (Bladensburg), 20722 (Brentwood), 20737 (Riverdale Park), 20743 (Capitol Heights), 20744 (Fort Washington), 20745 (Oxon Hills), 20746 (Suitland), 20747 (District Heights), 20748 (Temple Hills), 20772 (Upper Marlboro), 20774 (Upper Marlboro/Largo), 20784 (New Carrollton), and 20785 (Landover/Hyattsville).

Program History

The My Home II Program becomes available in years where Prince George's County has allocations of funding available for down payment assistance. The program is one of several the County has released in prior years, including the Double Play and Triple Play Programs.

  • You must have a decent to fair Credit Score

How It Works

  • 'My Home II' is an additional Down Payment loan with no set repayment date, 0% interest and no monthly payments
  • The entire loan becomes due when you sell or transfer the home in the future
