Maryland’s Purple Line METRO Receives $900 Million in Funding

The Purple line for the METRO will be receiving key funding this week that will help make it a tangible effort with real activity. Maryland Governor Larry Hogan along with Department of Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao have reached a deal that will bring in about $900 million in federal funding.

The funding deal, once closed, will allow construction of the 16 mile light rail line to begin in just a few weeks. The new Purple line once complete will run from Prince George’s County to Montgomery County, with 21 dedicated stops stretching from New Carrollton to Bethesda.
