Here’s a welcome to another local Baltimore business moving into the Hampden neighborhood. “Baltimore in a Box”, a cool concept that sells locally sourced gift boxes over the ‘net, will be relocating from Highlandtown to Hampden and will be at 857 W. 36th Street as of July. The company is moving their entire operation and retail storefront to The Avenue — current best-sellers include frozen crab cakes from Jimmy’s Seafood and Maryland-themed swag from Route One Apparel. They ship the gift boxes anywhere in the country.
The founder says they are making the move as a means to bring in more foot traffic and local business to the store. They’ve taken over a spot formerly held by Bobbi’s Beauty Salon.
Customers at the retail location can create their own gift boxes, choosing from five-, seven- or 10-item boxes, or they can order one and have it shipped to someone else. The store also offers the ability to purchase just a few individual items that usually appear in the gift boxes — Maryland flag socks or a tin of Old Bay, for example.
Thanks to the BizJournals on the alert and welcome Baltimore in a Box to the neighborhood. We’ll be opening our new real estate office soon at 831 W. 36th Street.
