The Virginia Housing Development Authority (VHDA) pays your Down Payment when you meet certain criteria. The money does not have to be paid back. You must have:
  • Less than $97,520/year in income (1-2 person households)
  • Less than $113,840/year in income (3+ persons)

The Maryland Mortgage Program loans you up to $8,500 in Down Payment Assistance. There's additional incentives from specific Maryland employers + great student loan incentive programs.

This Week’s (3/2) Home Buyer Workshops


Our 2/28 First Time Home Buyer Workshop  had a slightly higher than normal turnout, with 18 local residents showing up to learn about area $0 Down Programs tied in with Off-Season Home Buying Strategies.


Saturday’s Workshop drew a large crowd

“The $0 Down Programs and special financing available in DC, MD and VA are great and generate a lot of excitement from the public,” said Gerard DiRuggierio, Principal Broker of UrbanLand Company.  “The flip side is that these new buyers and home shoppers have to understand that you still have to find, compete and successfully win an offer on a home to use the $0 Down funds that are available. There’s challenges to competing for homes when you’re using $0 Down, and we’ve been focusing educating buyers on using seasonable variables to their advantage when pursuing home purchase. There’s been an incredible amount of interest in strategic guidance on topics like this from our social audience.”

This Week’s Workshops are:

Tuesday, 3/3 5:30pm – Our popular $0 Down Home Buyer Workshop – After-Work Edition runs for 90 minutes. We’ll be talking about DC Open Doors as well as Prince Georges County’s wildly successful Triple Play Program.

Thursday, 3/5 5:30pm – Our FHA 203k Real Estate Investor Workshop now is available on the First Thursday of every month. Learn about how to use FHA’s 203k Renovation loan on an up to (4) unit multi-family building. Live in (1) unit while renting (3), all while staying within the constraints of the program requirements! FHA 203k lets you roll the cost of repairs and updates into the cost of your mortgage, provided you meet certain conditions.

Saturday 3/7 10am  – Our Saturday morning $0 Down Home Buyer Workshop  runs for 90 minutes. Specific Property Tours and neighborhood tours are available after the Workshop from 11:30am on through the afternoon. We recommend you reach out to us specifically in advance if you want to tour with a First Time Home Buyer specialist.
