UrbanLand Company Acquires Hampden Building For Baltimore Office


UrbanLand Company, a diversified real estate brokerage with headquarters at 913 Florida Ave., NW in Shaw, has acquired a commercial building in the Hampden neighborhood of Baltimore. It will be the third real estate office location in the MRIS region for the locally owned brokerage. The address is 831 W. 36th Street in Baltimore. The transaction was closed on January 5, 2017.

“The brokerage continues on its pathway of consistent and aggressive local growth with our expansion to 3 area real estate offices.” said Gerard DiRuggiero, Principal Broker of UrbanLand Company. “The urban Baltimore market represents a valuable market now and in the future as part of our long-term plans. We’ve again chosen to go with building out our own location fresh rather than acquiring an existing Baltimore brokerage.”

The new Baltimore office joins another UrbanLand Company office currently in development at 1020 Bladensburg Road, NE and the company’s long-term headquarters at 913 Florida Avenue, NW in Shaw. “The brokerage owns all of our office space and treats each as an investment in its own right.” said Gerard. “The way we work and the services we provide to our buyer, seller and developer audiences demands custom space. Leasing doesn’t fit our game plan.”

What’s Hampden? Hampden is a distinctive Baltimore neighborhood centered around West 36th Street in Baltimore (aka “The Avenue”).  It’s an area of independent, locally-owned, authentic, cool restaurants, shops and businesses close to the Baltimore Museum of Art, the Baltimore Zoo and Johns Hopkins University. The neighborhood has a great vibe and is host to numerous community events each year.
