Prince Georges Triple Play Program Pays $3.3 Million in Down Payments in First 70 Days

Prince Georges County’s new Triple Play Program, funded under the Maryland Mortgage Program, recently announced that it has given out $3.3 million in state aid to home buyers in the county since the program began. Triple Play was launched on November 20, 2014.

“This is proof that Triple Play is designed to REALLY help you buy a home or condo in Prince Georges County,” said Gerard DiRuggiero, Principal Broker of UrbanLand Company. “These are funds the county received as part of a nationwide lawsuit settlement against the mortgage industry during the foreclosure crisis. The settlement gives Triple Play over $6 million to distribute to qualified homebuyers in its initial phase.”

Triple Play applies to homes purchased in select zip codes within PG County.  The program, when used correctly, result in up to $20,000 in down payment and closing cost assistance, reduced interest rates and valuable federal income tax credits. There are several other requirements that must be satisfied in order to successfully use the funding.

With $3.3 million already given out, the program is a huge success. The bad news is, once the total of $6 million allocated is ‘spent’, the program will go on hold until further funding is received by the state. “At the rate people are using Triple Play, the forecasts say the $6 million will be fully allocated to home buyers by the end of this March. We’re dedicating time in our next First Time Home Buyer Workshops to address the program directly and take pre-enrollments live from interested attendees,” commented DiRuggiero.

UrbanLand Company Workshops are free to the public and run on Tuesday nights at 5:30pm and Saturday mornings at 10am. These are small group sessions where you can get questions answered one-on-one, and real estate professionals are in attendance and can help with detail questions.
