Prince George’s County Going Green (In a Different Way)

Here’s more news of major economic development. Besides the recent opening of National Harbor’s main casino/hotel attractions, the County will be home to a 72,471 sq. ft. warehouse that will be the front-runner of Maryland’s early medical marijuana industry. Holistic Industries is working on the space in Capitol Heights now, and will be 1 of just 15 companies approved to grow and process the crop.

The group is definitely connected – the BizJournals reports that an adviser team for Holistic Industries includes the head of Maryland’s Fraternal Order of Police, a former Dean at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and the former Maryland Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene. The core product for Holistic Industries will be for the treatment of severe forms of epilepsy in children and its associates symptoms.

Prince George’s County is on a continued big push to boost their local business environment, and will pay off for homeowners in the County in the medium to long-term. “This is a county where you buy homes – the proximity to DC and Baltimore creates a nice sandwich effect around the County. As the lines between these markets blur, home values will continue to rise in Prince George’s,” said Gerard DiRuggiero, Principal Broker of UrbanLand Company.
