A 68 acre crescent-shaped piece of land right next to Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia will be known as the Merriweather District, an urban live/work development that is a major stage in the planned revitalization of Columbia .The revitalization effort is a 30 year, $1 billion initiative that was approved 6 years ago by Howard County.
The Merriweather District will include 2,300 homes, a 250 room hotel, 1.5 million sq. ft. of office space, 314,000 sq. ft. of retail and 225,000 sq. ft. of civic and cultural uses. The first office buildings are already being constructed at One Merriweather as the home of office anchor MedStar, taking almost 100,000 sq. ft. of the 200,000 sq. ft. available in the building.
The Merriweather District gets a ton of attention due to its proximity to Merriweather Post Pavilion, undergoing its own major renovation and update. The renderings of the Merriweather District include the Post Pavilion as an integral part of the community design.
Here’s more renderings and images from the plan and ongoing development. Exciting stuff! #FollowDevelopment on Twitter.
