Home Buyer Workshops: Mortgage Rates Drop Again; May Stay Low Into March

Our watch on the back and forth of fixed rate mortgage interest rates continues. Last word was the Fed was going to be raising their interest rates in March; since then rates have moved a little bit up and down.

The great news is that 30 year fixed rate mortgage interest rates are back at around 3.79% this week. That’s back to insanely low levels due to international economic worries. What does it mean to you?

Temporarily (most likely into March), home buyers starting a mortgage will be seeing a lower monthly mortgage payment due to lower interest rates overall on their loans. The Fed has led their hand with news of their next scheduled increase – this means you have all of February and part of March to take advantage of lower loan payments,” said Gerard DiRuggiero, Principal Broker of UrbanLand Company.

Prior News: Next Interest Rate Hike Projected for March

Our schedule of Free February Workshops is below! Join us to learn how to take advantage of these interest rates before they’re gone! Workshops are held at our offices at 913 Florida Avenue, NW. Attendance is always free.  “Our guidance and advice is free of charge. We are real estate agents – our time and expertise is available to you free of charge until you actually successfully buy a home or condo! Come on by & bring a friend!”

To RSVP or confirm availability, email Info@UrbanLandCompany.com. If you would prefer a one-on-one session, we meet often privately on an individual basis! Just email us and ask the question!

UrbanLand Company offers twice weekly free Home Buyer Workshops for local home shoppers who want to understand and navigate the pathway to ownership in the DC/MD/VA marketplace.  Tuesday nights at 5:30pm is our After-Work Edition Workshop, with a fast-format introduction to opportunities and challenges facing first time buyers shopping in the $250,000 – $500,000 price range. Saturday mornings at 10am is our popular $0 Down Home Buyer Workshop series. Location on both sessions weekly is 913 Florida Avenue, NW.

Head speaker is UrbanLand Company Principal Broker Gerard DiRuggiero (LinkedIn). His experience includes the sales of over 1,500+ condos and homes in the DC/MD/VA market. He is a contributing expert witness with the Board of Zoning Appeals on local real estate matters and also regularly handles the sales and marketing of new condominium projects for developers and investment groups.

“We focus in on core issues that can be obstacles for new buyers.  The focus on the $250,000 – $500,000 price range gives attendees a very clear picture of the broad part of the market as a whole. If you’re looking at below $250,000 (or above $500,000), just let us know and ask a question during the session! We have heavy participation from our audience and topics often change to match who is in room,” commented DiRuggiero.

Topics include:

  • Down payment options available (from traditional 20% down loans to low down payment to 100% financing programs)
  • Understanding how down payments & loan options affect monthly mortgage payment amounts
  • Mortgage Pre-Qualification + understanding your true purchasing power & affordability
  • How to shop smart in the marketplace (agent-directed search + using our mobile app)
  • Finding top neighborhood values & spots for future appreciation
  • Buying new construction vs. resale vs. investment properties
  • What to expect from your real estate agent

Take a look at some of the recent homes that Workshops attendees have purchased & settled on.
