Inner Harbor Mansion Sells to “Unnamed Hollywood Buyer” For $6 Million Plus

Someone famous is (trying to) quietly set up a rather nice place for themselves at Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. The Merritt mansion, ex-home of late real estate developer Leroy Merritt, is also the recent rental home of Orioles third basement Manny Machado.  There’s no word on who the actual West Coast buyer was. Whoever it was, they paid cash for the $6 million+ purchase.

“It usually takes ‘Hollywood’ money or athlete money to make a major cash move on a property like this one,” said Gerard DiRuggiero, Principal Broker of UrbanLand Company. “In this case, someone famous really wants a homestead at the Inner Harbor.”

The house is unique in several ways. It is actually two properties combined on the end of a pier on the Inner Harbor that total 9,069 square feet. The stats on the home are 6BR, 7 full BA and 3 half BA, a home theater, four-stop elevator, billiards room, spiral staircase, two garages, and, of course, the requisite rooftop deck with 360 views of Baltimore and the Harbor. NOT BAD!

Here’s the fact on the house that we love for Baltimore and our real estate expansion into the market. The home was originally purchased by Leroy Merritt as a shell. He turned it into one of the city’s most lavish addresses as an investor-buyer and the property just became the city’s most valuable real estate transaction since author Tom Clancy purchased multiple condos at the Ritz-Carlton Residences in the city.

So who is the mystery celebrity?

Local real estate agents in the luxury sector say the house has been visited by several celebrities to members of various royal families from around the globe. The only real facts this Friday morning is that it is a West Coast celebrity who has some serious home buying dollars at hand and obvious ties to Baltimore. It almost has to be a leading lady/leading man level actor/actress, or an accomplished director.

Any idea who it is? Let’s figure it out in the comments – have fun with this one!
