H Street Connection Shopping Center Up For Demolition


The H Street Connection shopping center’s transformation into a major mixed use residential and retail project appears to be right on track. Demolition permits are in for the empty shopping center at 901 H Street, NE.

“This old shopping center had a big bulls-eye on it for development for quite a bit. It’s a strip mall with a rare above-ground parking lot in a location that has become hot as the H Street boom spreads,” said Gerard DiRuggiero, Principal Broker of UrbanLand Company. “This is a highly desirable location and the project as it completes will bring an entire new block on that side of H Street!”

This will be a large project taking up over a city block that includes 44,000 sq. ft. of retail, underground parking, and 419 apartments stacked on top. Excavation permits are already in place and apartments and retail will begin delivering in 2019.
