D.C. Brau, the oldest modern brewery in Washington, is going to triple its local brewing capacity in 2017 up on Bladensburg Road, NE. They’re taking over neighboring space that used to be the Central Union Mission food back. The space is 13,875 sq. ft., which will become a 30 barrel brewing system for the brewer. D.C. Brau opened in 2011.
The new capacity will make it easier for D.C. Brau to produce it’s flagship local brews and will also facilitate more creative endeavors. There is now more room for the brewer to esxperiment and create one-off specialty beers and seasonal blends.
Demolition is already underway, with new grain silos going in outside the warehouse.
