195 Apartments Lead South Capitol Shopping Center Redevelopment

Developer CityInterests has recently received a permit to start redevelopment of the South Capitol Shopping Center at 4001 South Capitol Street, SW. The initial project will be an affordable, 195 unit five story apartment building. This residential project is the first part of a full redevelopment of the site which will include a 50,000 sq. ft. primary care center, 37,000 sq. ft. of office space, 36,000 sq. ft. of new retail, the mentioned apartments and associated parking.

Demolition permits are still underway, but it looks like this old, worn-down shopping center will be replaced by a shiny new destination that includes great community support.
