116 New Apartments Under Construction at Rhode Island Avenue Metro

A five story apartment and retail project is under construction near  the Rhode Island Avenue Metro station on 4th Street, NE. There will be 116 affordable rental apartments, with the majority being one bedroom. A portion of the 116 units will be used for studios, two bedroom units and a small allotment of three bedroom units. There will be up to 5,000 square feet of retail on the ground level.

“This news reflects urban renewal working in a positive way. H Street’s Development Corporation (HSCDC) came in a few years ago to clear a dilapidated set of three abandoned buildings. The transformation into affordable new apartments will help the neighborhood in a big way,” said Gerard DiRuggierio, Principal Broker of UrbanLand Company. “There’s more coming to 4th Street, NE, including a sweet new boutique condominium building that will be announced soon. Anyone wanting information on new condos coming to Rhode Island Metro should check out our New Construction Buyer Registration service for how to find out more on the project and how to acquire a unit during Pre-Sales!”

The team behind the new mixed use project are E&G Group and Bonstra | Haresign Architects. Plans have been proposed since 2012 and initial construction began in November, 2014.
